Denmark is a country in northern Europe between the North Sea and Baltic Sea. The land has a total area of 42,920 km² and a total coastline of 7,314 km. This area is approximately 171% of the area of Maryland. The country has 1,419 partially uninhabited islands in the open sea. Germany ist the only directly neighbouring country of Denmark. The distance between New York City and the Capital Copenhagen is about 6,190 km.With an Human Development Index (HDI) of 0.930 Denmark counts as one of the high developed economies by UN-definition.
