Tunisia is a country in the north of Africa on the southern Mediterranean coast. The distance to the southern Italian islands is just under 70 km. The land has a total area of 163,610 km² and a total coastline of 1,148 km. This area is approximately 79% of the area of Minnesota. The country has about 30 islands. There are direct national borders with the 2 neighbouring countries Algeria and Libya.
