The country has about 500 partially uninhabited islands. There are direct national borders with the 8 neighbouring countries Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Iran, Iraq and Syria. The distance between New York City and the Capital Ankara is about 8,410 km.According to the definition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Turkey is one of the developing countries because of its lower economic performance.
