Albania is a country in southeastern Europe on the southern Adriatic coast. The land has a total area of 28,750 km² and a total coastline of 362 km. This area is approximately 114% of the area of Maryland. The country has 13 islands in the open sea. There are direct national borders with the 4 neighbouring countries Montenegro, Greece, Macedonia and the Kosovo.
