Albania is a country in southeastern Europe on the southern Adriatic coast. The land has a total area of 28,750 km² and a total coastline of 362 km. This area is approximately 114% of the area of Maryland. The country has 13 islands in the open sea. There are direct national borders with the 4 neighbouring countries Montenegro, Greece, Macedonia and the Kosovo. The distance between New York City and the Capital Tirana is about 7,440 km.According to the definition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Albania is one of the developing countries because of its lower economic performance.
