Azerbaijan is a landlocked country north of Iraq on the Caspian Sea. The land has a total area of 86,600 km². This area is approximately 108% of the area of Maine. There is no access to the open sea. There are direct national borders with the 5 neighbouring countries Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Russia and Turkey.
