North Macedonia is a landlocked country on the Balkan peninsula in southeastern Europe. The land has a total area of 25,710 km². This area is approximately 102% of the area of Maryland. There is no access to the open sea. There are direct national borders with the 5 neighbouring countries Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo and Serbia.
