Uzbekistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia. The land has a total area of 447,400 km². This area is approximately 111% of the area of California. There is no access to the open sea. There are direct national borders with the 5 neighbouring countries Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. The distance between New York City and the Capital Tashkent is about 10,190 km.According to the definition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Uzbekistan is one of the developing countries because of its lower economic performance. Uzbekistan is regarded as a so-called pariah state because of its politics.
